Rough weekend, and it would seem that luck is never on my side.
We decided to go to No ET for some passes with the colt and the evo. Unfortunately the oil filter came loose during the pass, causing 5.5 quarts of oil to evacuated from my engine rather quickly. It was kind of scary on the big end, because basically the oil was going under the front and rear tire, which caused me to counter steer a little as I slowed down.
The cause of failure is due to the burnout, which probably had a lot of harmonics in it, that caused the tight oil filter to come loose. Next engine I will safety wire the filter.
Pictures of the mess basically the entire side of the car is covered in oil
My wonderful wife helped clean this pile at the car wash and I am glad I did it, because it would have been awefully messy trying to do it in my driveway.
Thanks jeremy and Kevin for helping pulling the motor yesterday. Due to all of the wire tucking etc, we were able to pull everything just under 2.5 hours.
the queen has returned to her throne
Tonight after work, we will tear it down, and see whats needed to rebuild it again.
1.5 Months to the shootout, This is an unfortunate and unlucky thing that happened to the car, but that is racing.
more to come
Amazing job!
