No real updates for me, Still working on the boost and timing curve .. Recent pulls are right around 650Hp and 520TQ with 7 degrees of timing up top.
I have been trying to understand and correlate small incremental steps in timing and how these correlate with an increased/ decreased Torque curve. This is sometimes very frustrating to work with because I feel that this type of testing is better suited to a dyno versus a Roadway..
Someone sent me pictures of a recent car show that I attended. Thank you to the fellow that took these pictures. Notice the Sparktech Covers from Evodan, that I had annodized Black to complete my Ignition set up.
enjoy

So over the last few weeks I have been doing timing sweeps , air fuel ratio sweeps and boost sweeps, to really check the characteristics of the engine , the efficiency of the set up and just how by manipulating each of these factors, the Torque curve and given output can change.
Here is basically where I am at with the car, 37-38 psi about 12.0 afr and about 7-8 degrees of timing
Whats interesting about the curve above is two fold:
1) 3-4 psi more boost = over 50HP, with only 14TQ gain
2) minimal timing NOT in the peak torque area, was able to sustain this.
Now to the tuners out there, I am surprised by this, because typically one would see about 9HP/psi but this is always in conjunction with increasing the timing in those peak areas too. Interesting stuff
Next, I have been plotting Knock Voltage and Knock sum versus time during the pulls : here are two graphs
This is at 40 psi and 13 degrees of timing ( gave just under 700hp)
Notice the spike, with rather "normal voltage" ?
Now look at this one ( 38 psi, 8 degrees) ( Less load compared to the graph above)
Notice the voltage spike ?
I have definitely learnt something new.
enjoy the data.
