The trip from Sierra Vista to Tucson went smooth this morning. I babied the car between 65-85 MPH as I wanted to take things easy. The one major thing I forgot to do was that I FAILED to reinstall the bolts to the strut tower! God is good as I could have encountered a serious accident if I hit a good sized bump in the road. So, today I am getting a proper speed density intake done and a 25-30 PSI boost leak test as the AEM wideband gauge is being installed. Hopefully, Tom can give things another shot when I get home this afternoon. We are getting close.

Before making the switch to E85, I decided to test to see how well the 91-octane is that we have here in southern Arizona. Well, the 91-octane gas we have is actually about 87-octane. Tom said that it is one of the worst quality of 91-octane that he has seen in quite sometime. The final numbers were 392whp and and 361wtq at only 24 pounds of boost. Not bad. Tom told me that we are about 80% done with this 91-octane tune and as soon as I have to fill up the tank again, the E85 is going in. Currently, I have the BPR7ES spark plugs gapped at 0.027. For the E85 tuning, I will go with a step colder spark plug and decrease the gap to about 0.022 to 0.024.

Tom, I did some looking at the BPR7ES spark plugs that I have in the car. I was under the impression that the original gap was .027 which by itself is fairly large. Well, to my surprise, the gap is actually .032 if you read towards the bottom of this page:

The BPR7ES plugs that are presently in the car, I will properly gap to .022 today in preparation for the pump/91 tweaks. I honestly cannot wait for the E85 tune as it is not safe for me to get tuned with water instead of gasoline.
I agree, my friend. I will log the last ROM you sent to me for your review tonight as it is going to nearly 100-degrees today in southern Arizona. I feel comfortable with how the car is responding on water at 24PSI. I would like to take this next run up to nearly 9,000 as I have never been in that range before as it was not needed since I was on the stock turbo. I mean, if the turbo can flow up to that point without falling off, then why leave all of that power on the table. At this current time, I believe there is slightly less than a half tank and I will drive the car everywhere I go (and my wife as well) in order to burn it off so that we can get the E85 tune started after Memorial Day.
Nice details
