A bump, as the process has begun...B18 build commencing!! Jedd lit a fire under my tail with his recent build, so it's time to get off the pot.
This particular block is bored over to a B20. I have pistons, rods, and crank, but they weren't run in this engine. So, I plan on bringing everything to the machine shop to give the block a look-see, then assemble and balance everything. Crank is in great shape and wasn't turned, so I expect standard bearing sizes will work. Just need to clean off the tops of the pistons (carbon buildup) and order rings and main bearings before I bring everything over.
Once I get that back, I'll bring the head over for a once-over, new seats and springs, maybe valves if needed. I have two heads to work with.
- The one I'll likely use is B20F head (just have to plug the FI ports)
- The other one is B18 (with combustion chamber machined for B20) or an early B20 head with double valve springs. That was ran on a hotter cam from another block, but this is going to be a streetable motor, so I may sell that one.
Also have what I think is an "S" cam, but there's no identification on it aside from some serial numbers, if anyone is interested in that.
Anyhoo...here's the work so far:

I have the B18 bell-housing and also an M40 trans (with correct speedo drive gear orientation). I actually have an M40 from an Amazon, too, but that would take some creative routing of the speedo cable if I used it. The car's body is too pristine to modify the trans tunnel for an overdrive unit.
