I live near there and was bringing the car home after *cough* the lead from the ignition coil split internally. The car started to miss slightly during some spirited driving, and then on the same drive started to lose power. I pulled over to see what was going on, and when I pulled on the wire the crimped part on the inside at the coil broke away. I figured I could either go to Pepboys etc and buy a new one, or I could use my AAA unlimited towing to take me to the shop or home for free As I was on small back roads and not in a rush to get anywhere I decided to just head home.

I'm really just driving it right now, not much else happening. I got a couple of parts in my latest trip to Europe. Next up will be some more tidying and maybe a respray in the same colour. I'm not sure if I want to do the whole thing, or just the front bumper so that I can leave the 'patina' or battle wounds.. Any thoughts everyone?

A little while back I went to visit another of the Greenland Polos, which was fixed up in Ohio and then shipped here very close to my house and work by a dealership who has it for sale for around $12k. I regularly get contacted to ask if it's my car, as has been asked in this thread. Let me stress again in bold, it's not my car

THE PHOTOS THAT I AM ABOUT TO POST ARE NOT MY CAR. THERE ARE FOUR 'GREENLAND POLOS', OR POLO'S FROM GREENLAND AT LEAST.

I have details, including photos and videos, of all four cars, but lost track of them once I left the Army depot. One showed up in Ohio (now in PA), there's mine in PA, a third in NH (I believe I know the owner, who asked to buy mine before, but I have no confirmed it is him), and the fourth is still missing.

So, I have been to the dealership three times, twice during business hours. Both times no one was there and the doors were locked. This other car is solid, but the repairs were of a somewhat questionable quality (and that's coming from me ). Here's my list of things I spotted:

The passenger rear window is glued in thin plastic sheet. I believe there was damage on the rear which has been repaired and the whole car resprayed with lots of overspray. Lots of dirt in the paint. The front seats are from a mk3 Golf/Jetta/Cabrio. The front bumper vents are from something else.

I've been wanting to offer to get a rear quarter window from Europe for it, but the lack of employees has stopped me from talking to them in person. If anyone buys it, that plastic window is a joke I'm happy to help bring the glass over.

But otherwise, it's all there and it deserves a home. I have talked to a couple of interested people who have contacted me with questions. I think the price is steep with the current issues, but a few thousand dollars, but might be correct if it had been done correctly. I know there was dirt caked inside the engine (the oil cap was missing, or the whole valve cover, my old notes don't specify which unfortunately), but the previous owner in Ohio said he cleaned the dirt out and changed the fluids a few times which satisfied him. I personally avoided the engines because of this, but it seems like they survived just fine.

Photos of both cars together:

This includes the hydraulic to manual clutch cable slave on the transmission. This was discussed way back early on with my car. I was missing it, so switched to a fully hydraulic transmission, which I'm happy with.

There's also a tranmission heater, which is pretty cool. I'm 99% sure it's going to wired to a big household style distribution point like I had (and removed) from my engine bay.
