Went to Drift Office to see what a different tune would look/feel like. I do still have a few quirks in the 92 octane pump gas tune and a LOT of quirks on the E85 tune.
On the pump gas tune, I experience occasional stalling when the car is first started (cold or not) and I rev it 3K+ and let it drop down on it's own. It usually goes away quickly, and I really don't care about it.
The thing that gets me is that frequently when I in the 2K - 3K range and under load (like going uphill) it will pulse (each pulse lasts about a second), as if it is starved for, or being given too much, fuel. This doesn't always happen though. There isn't any correlation that I've noticed. It just does it sometimes. It is VASTLY more pronounced on the E85 tune, which leads me to think that maybe I need a fuel pressure regulator. I certainly been a 3.5 bar map sensor.
Another one displays very similarly, but happens when i corner hard. Well, to me it's hard cornering. Just cuts out.
I am getting a retune at PIA the 2nd week of May, and Steve has told me that he is going to try and have a peer tuner onsite at the time, since there are little E85 quirks here and there that would benefit from a different informed perspective.
Anywho.. back to the Drift Office tune. I have been told from a couple of sources that I trust that the crew at Drift Office is pretty awesome; Bill especially. So I brought it by to see how it may differ from the other current-mod based tunes i have.
Here is the one I am coming off of. It's from PIA, and pretty stout. Keep in mind that at the time of this tune I had a slipping clutch. (The 451whp post is the tuner's estimate w/o the slipping clutch).
Here is the Drift Office tune. Not as much HP, but who knows, that might be partly due to different dynos. My understanding is that the PIA dyno reads very conservatively and the Maxwell PowerSports dyno reads equally optimistic. This I can personally verify based on identical baseline runs between the two. Yes, yes, they were on different days, different times of the day, different elevations (I assume) and different atmospheric conditions. I don't claim to be the authority on the comparison. I can say that the mods were the same, the outside temp was within 5 degrees and overall the days were VERY similar. One read 345whp and the other read 309. I don't have any experience/information with the Drift Office dyno.
Net result is, according to my butt dyno, if that the PIA feels faster, and probably is. I'll be able to tell soon, and run comparison runs between the two different pump gas tunes.
The Drift office tune is easier and smoother on the street. The surging happens less, but it's still there, and still just as random.
Next: Once I get the E85 tune, and it's 100%, I'll be a very happy boy. Based one previous gains on E85. Last numbers before the FMIC were 360whp on pump and 419 on E85. Most recent numbers after the FMIC were 387whp on pump and 427 on E85 BUT I had a slipping clutch and couldn't go past 4300rpm. That's (initial numbers) ~ 15% increase which would put me at 448, at a minimum. Then factor in the improved tune, map sensor, working clutch and fuel pressure regulator and think conservatively I'll be around 460-480whp. Well above my initial goal of ~350.

Looks like a fun little sleeper!
