Its almost as if they did not put the angle of the flanges the same, the top meets too much and the lower half has a large gap so when the flange is tightened it blows out the bottom part

oh I have also come to the conclusion I need new brakes!

Okay so il be working with Ron to finish the e-tune today now the header is fixed. Tim to see what she can do

Well the tune ran into issues, getting some knock, oil usage is getting too high, smoke under wot, plugs show signs of burning oil, the tick is still there.............

You guessed it.

Were pulling the motor...... again.

This time its going to p&l or rocket rally. Were doing it right, I mean we have struggled for a year now to get it working correctly and have had issue after issue. I know people will say you should have done this in the first place but I have learnt a huge amount about the car and how it works. I simply cannot afford more setbacks, not to mention I want to have the car running perfect. Not wondering what damage could be occuring.

This will be for for the best, I can work on new part selection for the car, we will also be changing the turbo. Il be selling the dom3xtr after a rebuild by Blouch. Il be having p&l etc rebuild the heads and ensure everything is tip top. If it goes to rocket rally I may even just send the whole car and get it back installed.

To be continued!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys, I know luck has been against me too but perhaps I was over ambitious but things went so well with the first block I thought a new one would fix thing.

Not open a huge door to other issues, although this time it should be right..... I hope!!

So I emailed Rocket Rally and this is the email they have sent me:

I will give you some rough quotes as a guide, as at this step it's very

hard to know what exactly is required for the motor. But generally

speaking, we would like to start all fresh with all new parts vs.

re-using, pumps, etc. etc.

When you say engine has 3k on it. 3000km with this new setup or since

brand new? Just to let you know that there's a chance that we will not

want to re-use this block.

Generally speaking;

Stage 1 RR Block - upgraded pistons and bearings - $3975

Labour for engine re/re - dress block - assy/diss, etc. $2450 - doesn't

include additional headwork if required

Parts kit required - ARP head studs, water, oil pumps/gaskets/new spark

plugs/netls/idlers/tensioner, etc. all new to make the engine brand new

basically

+

Tuning should be around $1500 for the above setup.

Where is the car located?

As I mentioned above, the above is for the worst case but should be a

good start and also basically for you to understand what MAY be involved

with your project.

Best Regards,

Onur

So honestly I can understand his approach but to think I may have to start with a new shortblock is very concerning, especially at 4k when the one I have with 3000 kms on it is worth easily that much!

Im going to get back in touch with P&L tomorrow and find out the cost to have them do the work, I know they are looking for around 2500 for a hone / re/ring and to assemble the longblock including new headstuds, water pump, timing kit etc etc, so I guess time will tell how much extra is required.

Plus if it goes to P&L, Junior can just tune it right away for me so I dont have to plan a second trip.

Thoughts anyone?
