OK!  I am turning into a softy,  I have just come in from where I have been working in an open carport, The current Temperature is 36 degrees C with Humidity  at 29%. I can sit quietly and study up my ENV notes,  so I can make an early start tomorrow before it heats up too much again....
I have actually made quite a bit of progress anyway. I am ready to start installing the "struts" starting with Reverse gear.
I hope that you are all keeping up?

Today has been a better day, I am well on the way to having it all together again and it seems to be a much happier gearbox. I have sorted out the Bus Bar problem much to my relief. It is turning over smoothly with very little effort. I can actually think about putting it back into the car but not for another two or three days. I just hope that I am not getting ahead of myself.
Hopefully the attached drawing will go some way to explain what is going on inside a preselector gearbox. This is from the original 1934 Manual. Each gear has it's own band etc except top gear which as previously mentioned is "engaged" via a (it's own) cone clutch. That in itself is a triumph of mind over matter.
We may even get around to talking about how each band "adjusts itself" but not today.

Unfortunately I spoke too soon and somehow I have managed to stuff-up the final assembly AGAIN so I am now back to square one.
As they say in the Classics, There is no fool like an old fool!
Right now I would be happy just to bundle it all up and walk away from it !
